Take a trip on the wild side in search of hippos, crocodiles and scorching hot-springs in central northern Kenya!
Herein lies two gems to visit whilst in Africa - Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria.
Your trip will begin in Nakuru and you will head to Lake Baringo National Park, a beautiful volcanic bedrock-turned-lake approximately 130 square kilometres in size. It is famous for being home to groups of hippos and crocodiles. There are also several vultures around the area who feast upon the lake's fish at meal times. You'll have a chance to mingle with the locals - there are also two schools nearby - as well as purchase souvenirs.
It is optional to take a guided motorboat ride around the lake to get a closer look at the hippos and crocs! After a break for lunch, the journey heads east for Lake Bogoria to see the famous red-hot volcanic hot-springs sizzling from the ground - careful not to get too close! Lake Bogoria is an alkaline lake that, like Baringo, lies in a volcanic region. Despite being remarkably shallow, Lake Bogoria is 35km long and 3.5km wide, with the various hot-springs dotted around its perimeter. Its mountainous surroundings are a breathtaking sight when the sunlight beams off the indents in the hillside.
Your day finishes with a journey back to Nakuru town in the Rift Valley.

" One of the main reasons I came to Kenya was because of the hot springs at Lake Bogoria - I've always been fascinated by volcanoes having studied them for my dissertation at University - and I wasn't disappointed. We met a local school group on our trip and we spent most of the day with them afterwards too and the hippos at Baringo really did round off one of the best trips I have ever been on. "
