School and College Trips

School and College Trips

Ever wanted to be a part of a group travel experience that excites, enthuses, educates and makes a difference to other people's lives?

You can now by creating your own group KenyanAdventure. You can choose which projects you work with, which adventure activities you want to add and when you want to do it.

As with all KenyanAdventures - and unlike most other volunteer companies - part of your trip fee is donated directly into the project you visit Africa to work with to help fund materials and equipment. In addition to that, we endorse all of our trips with our 'UK Best Price Promise', meaning we guarantee to offer the best value trips for volunteering in Africa. If you can find a like-for-like deal elsewhere, we'll beat it!

You'll work closely with your assigned Trip Co-ordinator to make sure you achieve everything you want from your KenyanAdventure. We have ample experience in arranging group trips and will use our expertise to make your experience a stress-free and enjoyable one.

KenyanAdventure is a leading provider of educational adventures for forward-thinking schools and colleges in the UK.

Gone are the days when students need to be stuck inside a classroom to learn about the wonders of Africa. We set up safe, secure, exciting travel experiences in Kenya where you can gain an unrivalled insight into African life today.

From volunteering on local community projects to mountain climbing and safaris, we can help offer your students the trip of a lifetime.

KenyanAdventure is one of the UK’s only commercial organizations that donates money directly to its projects every time we send a volunteer. This helps to fund vital equipment, food and materials. As an example, a group of just ten students volunteering with KenyanAdventure at a local school would fund 5000 school meals or two basic family homes on a building project.

There are lots of additional benefits of volunteering abroad too. School/College KenyanAdventures provide:

  • Enhance personal development
  • Improve social awareness and knowledge of wider issues
  • Encourage independence
  • Improve decision making
  • Develop new skills
  • Help develop local projects in impoverished communities
  • Improve CV with UCAS-recognised volunteer work

Choosing to spearhead a foreign trip such as this is also beneficial to the school/college because it displays -

  • Excellent PR coverage in the local community
  • A commitment to providing fantastic opportunities to students
  • An enhanced student-teacher relationship through team work

Your Trip Co-ordinator will work closely with you to establish what you are looking to achieve from your trip both individually and collectively in order to place you with appropriate projects. Unless you are travelling as a single department, it is unlikely that all of your students will have identical interests. Subsequently, we will look to combine some of our projects below in one location so that everybody in your party can choose a project which they find interesting and worthwhile to work with.

  • Community Work with Children
  • Teaching in Schools
  • Football Coaching
  • Conservation at the foot of Mount Kenya
  • Building Houses
  • Nursing and Healthcare

The vast majority of groups to date have chosen to treat themselves to one of our adventure activities mid-way through their KenyanAdventure.

  • Mount Kenya climb
  • Masai Mara Safari Adventure
  • Lake Nakuru Safari, Equator & Thomson Falls day trip
  • Central Kenya Lakes

Health and safety has never been so important with school/college trips and it is important to ensure that all precautions and plans are in place prior to your trip.

KenyanAdventure can, on request, provide the following documentation:

  • Project risk assessments
  • Homestay’s Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Insurance certificates
  • Company charter with environmental, community, safety, ethical and professional policy
  • References from previous groups
  • Volunteer Code of Conduct

Previously, we have worked with a range of colleges and naturally some students find themselves in a fortunate position where funding their trip will not require them to find the money themselves. However, a large majority of students will need to undertake fundraising activities to help boost their savings and we are here to help support your efforts.

In addition to our Fundraising Brochure - which is full of ideas for events – we can help give you expert advice on ways to approach different companies for maximum effect, as well as providing ideas which have, historically, been very successful.

It is important to break your fundraising target down into mini-chunks, which are far more manageable and enable you to plan more effectively in order to reach your financial goals.

Organising a trip is straightforward process which is broken down into five parts to help make things easy for you. We’ll provide as much help and support as possible and will help answer any questions you may have in the run up to your trip.

  1. Initial Presentation
  2. Your Trip Co-ordinator will visit your college to hold a presentation about volunteering in Africa to students who have shown an initial interest. Here we will also discuss what you are looking for from your trip.

  3. Deposits
  4. A deposit of £75 per volunteer secures your dates and trip.

  5. Fundraising
  6. We are happy to provide help and support to your fundraising activities by means of KenyanAdventure t-shirts, posters and cover letters to help your students top up their savings.

  7. Pre-departure Meeting
  8. With only a couple of months left, your Trip Co-ordinator will once again visit your college to hand out your pre-departure packs and parents are welcome to attend a meeting that will cover any outstanding points.

We will also confirm which projects you are working with and what exactly you will be doing (e.g. extending a school on a building project) during your trip.

We’ll also ask every traveller to provide a copy of their travel insurance, passport and signed volunteer code of conduct.

  9. Off to Africa!
  10. Let your adventure begin!
