Section 5: Offset Your Carbon Emissions
According to scientific research, it is becoming more apparent that our current lifestyles are damaging the earth's atmosphere. The carbon emissions we produce on a daily basis by driving our cars, heating and cooling our homes and our consumption of fossil fuels add together to equal our carbon 'footprint'.
Those carbon emissions are creating what is frequently referred to as 'the greenhouse effect', where the heat and pollution that we produce is warming the earth's surface, causing multiple environmental problems.
Many people and companies are looking to create 'carbon neutral' alternatives - such as the hybrid car - which have no negative impact on the environment.
It is not yet possible to take a carbon neutral flight, meaning the aviation industry produces colossal amounts of carbon dioxide. In fact, according to the UK government's official website, a single person's return flight from London Heathrow to Nairobi produces 1.23 tonnes of carbon dioxide. However, it is possible to offset your carbon emissions by replacing them with with a carbon-saving equivalent elsewhere.
There are various ways to offset your emissions but one of the most environmentally-friendly ways to do this is by replenishing the earth's landscape through planting trees. In its lifetime, one tree acts as a 'carbon sink' and consumes an entire tonne of carbon dioxide.
As a result, you'll plants two trees at a designated green-zone whilst in-country - on top of the financial contribution we make to your project - meaning you'll have a greener-than-green trip in the heart of Africa!
